Cathedral offers chance for real faith and real ale

The opportunity to enjoy a pint of real ale and a talk on the Catholic faith is being offered at the Cathedral Narthex in Norwich on June 17 as part of a new monthly series ' Peter's Pints.

Organiser, Fr Henry Whisenant (pictured above), said: "It is an opportunity to enjoy a guest ale from a different localbrewery each month, along with a talk on faith by a guest speaker. We intend to have beers from St Peter's Brewery in Suffolk for the first evening. And for those who don't like ale, the Narthex bar will also be open."

The first guest speaker is Fr Julian Green, a priest of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

PetersPintsHeader600"He is a lover of real ale, and this plus his engaging and candid teaching style makes him the perfect introduction to Peter's Pints," said Fr Henry. "We don't want to give away too much about his talk, The Fear of the Lord is the First Stage of Wisdom, but it certainly will not disappoint."

Fr Julian has taught at the Maryvale Institute and Oscott College Seminary for a number of years, as well as serving as chaplain to Birmingham University. His work with students has also occasioned him to speak at a number of youth conferences and retreats, organised by such groups as Youth 2000 in England and FOCUS college campus ministry in the USA. In 2012 he was the national delegate to the International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin. Fr Julian currently serves four churches in Staffordshire.

The bar opens at 7pm with the talk at 7.20pm and a chance for questions afterwards.
