The Catholic Bishops’ of England and Wales have issued a statement on the forthcoming General Election after their November 2019 Plenary meeting in Leeds. The statement concentrates on the key issues – not parties or manifestos – offering a series of points that can be put to candidates prior to voting.
The Bishops highlight the duty of all citizens – not just Catholics – to help shape politics that are “rooted in the service of human rights and peace”. The innate human dignity of all – particularly the vulnerable and those on the margins – lies at the heart of the statement as the Bishops encourage everyone to “engage with the election and vote.”

The Bishops’ Conference has announced that it supports the Re-dedication of England as the Dowry of Mary, to be offered by every Catholic on March 29, 2020. It will include a suitable Service of Re-dedication to be held in each Cathedral on that date as a commitment to a renewed evangelisation.
The new Catholic station Radio Maria England is recruiting a part-time editorial assistant, to be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary of £15,000 per annum is being offered for the 18.5-hour part-time post.
The post holder will assist the priest director with the planning, scheduling and management of radio broadcasts and their content. The role will involve coordinating the invited speakers, and volunteer members of the editorial and social media teams.
