During Lent, Our Lady and St Peter in Aldeburgh will be running three talks on Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si (Praise be to you), which asks ‘What kind of world do we want to leave our children?’ LS:160.
“The question does not have to do with the environment alone, it leads us to ask about the meaning of existence, the values at the heart of our society and what the world needs of us,” said Chris McElhatton. The talks run on Friday February 23, March 2 and March 9 in the Presbytery, 15 The Terrace, Aldeburgh from 4-5pm.
Norwich Justice and Peace Group will meet in the Narthex at St John’s Cathedral on Thursday March 1 at 7.30pm. Sarah Ebelewicz said: “After a time for prayer, the group will discuss current projects – support for Wendy Kelfs, the Outreach Worker for the homeless, the Welcome Rucksack Project and Tambogrande our twinned parish in Peru. Discussion will also focus on how we could promote the work of Community Chaplaincy Norfolk following Rev Susan Carne’s recent talk. A fundraising concert for the Welcome Rucksack Project will be held on Sunday March 4 at 3pm at the Octagon Chapel, Colegate, Norwich. The varied musical programme, including works by Mozart, Elgar, Cole Porter and many more, will be provided by Wind in the Willows, a woodwind quintet and other musicians. Tickets £8; concert £7.
Lenten soup lunches will be held on Fridays throughout March in the Narthex at St John’s Cathedral Norwich from 1pm after Stations of the Cross devotion. Donations for the health worker fund in Tambogrande Peru. All are welcome.
A Latin Mass in the Extraordinary Form (Old Rite 1962 Missal) will be celebrated throughout the spring at St John’s Cathedral in Norwich.
