Latest news of interest to the Diocese of East Anglia include Sea Sunday, online children’s ministry and a survey of Catholic responses to the Covid-19 crisis.

Catholic Voices is collaborating with researchers as part of a major survey assessing responses to the Covid-19 crisis among Catholics in the UK.

This survey, which will form part of a wider survey of UK Christian responses to the present crisis, is intended to capture Catholic experience and help us understand it better. The survey takes the form of an online questionnaire and has already received 1,500 responses and will remain open till early July.

Any Catholic living in England, Wales or Scotland can take part in the survey here.

Children’s Ministry Online – Tuesday 14 July, 3-4pm

Parishes have been innovating during the pandemic to make sure that children and families have access to age-appropriate worship, activities and prayer online. Hear learnings from three parishes: one Canadian and two UK in this webinar organised by Divine Renovation. The event will include contributions from Laura O’Rourke of St Benedict Parish, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jamila Jeffers of Our Lady and St Joseph’s, Kingsland and Anne Marie Milwain of St John Bosco and St Bernadette’s, Erskine.

Divine Renovation UK provides parishes across the United Kingdom with missional support focused on building strong teams and creating a culture of evangelization.

2020 is the centenary year for seafarers charity Apostleship of the Sea which is marking the occasion by changing its name to Stella Maris – the name that most seafarers know it by.

Sea Sunday, which was due to take place on July 12, is crucial is generating income to support the charity’s work with seafarers and fishers

In the light of the uncertainty posed by Covid-19, the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have decided to postpone Sea Sunday to December. The date has not yet been finalised, but it is likely to be either Sunday 13 or Sunday 20 December.
