Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia

20 hours per week, 3 year contract with the possibility of extension

£21,000 to £23,500, depending upon experience

Are you inspired by church architecture? Are you fascinated by the history of churches and want them to remain part of our heritage and a vital part of community life? Are you experienced in advising on funding applications and supporting historic buildings to be well maintained and sustainable? Can you communicate your enthusiasm and confidence to others?

The Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia wishes to build on its ‘Taking Stock’ review of its Churches undertaken in 2018/20, to ensure that its historic buildings continue to play their key role in sustaining and renewing the Faith. Our church buildings are important, visual symbols, and the establishment of this post presents the opportunity to ensure that they remain beacons of Faith in their communities. By working closely with Parishes, not only helping address repairs and restoration issues but also the development of them as modern places of worship and community which respect their sacred space, the Diocese looks to build the capacity of Parishes to sustain their patrimony and to understand its role in evangelisation and national heritage.

Through grant funding from Historic England, a new opportunity has arisen for an Historic Churches Support Officer to join our team. The post-holder will assist Parishes to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to implement robust management, maintenance and funding schemes which will assist with the sustainability of the historic heritage of our churches. You will have excellent organisational and planning skills; be able to manage a varied workload; be an effective team player; and be based from our office near Norwich.

Applications are welcome both from new graduates as well as more experienced applicants. This is a part-time post with flexible hours based on a fixed term contract for three years with the possibility of extension. Applications should be emailed to finance@rcdea.org.uk

Closing date: 11.59pm Monday 22nd February
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Friday 12th March
