Upcoming Events 2019
Below are a list of events from around the Diocese of East Anglia, the majority are run by the Diocesan Youth Service but some may be run by other organisations operating in the Diocese.
5th-6th January 2019: Ignite Lite Discipleship Weekend – open to all aged 16-35 who are interested in growing in faith and discipleship & especially those who are members of, or are interested in joining, our team of part-time volunteers: ‘Ignite Lite‘.
The weekend takes place in Walsingham and will include practical training in evangelisation and sharing your faith as well as opportunities for prayer and serving others. We will conclude our weekend by joining the Epiphany Candlelight Mass in Poringland, near Norwich.
Accommodation is available at Dowry House in Walsingham for a subsidised cost of £15 per night (Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights). To book a place, or for more information, including lifts/help with transport, email Catherine at email@example.com.
Sunday 6th January 2019: Epiphany Candlelight Mass & Fireworks – Christmas celebration for young people from around the Diocese, and their families, at the Bishop’s residence in Poringland, near Norwich. Mass is followed by food, a bonfire and fireworks. If you can, please bring a wrapped present for a refugee with a label indicating whether it is for a boy or girl and the age it is suitable for. Mass starts at 5pm and the evening concludes at 7pm – 21 Upgate, Poringland, Norfolk, NR14 7SH.
26th January 2019 – World Youth Day Night Vigil, Peterborough. An overnight vigil of prayer, for those aged 16+, to coincide with the celebration happening at the same time in Panama for World Youth Day. Timings and venue are still being finalised.
21st-29th January 2019: World Youth Day Panama, open to those aged 17 or older by 1 September 2018. For further information please click here.
Saturday 2nd March: Flame 2019 – Catholics take over Wembley Arena for a day of world-class music, talks and times of worship. Confirmed guests include Christian rap artist Guvna B, musician Tim Hughes and Cardinal Vincent Nichols.

30th March 2019: Day for Youth Leaders – for those who work with, or are interested in working with, young people in the Church, especially in a parish or school setting.
4th & 5th May 2019: Ignite Festival – annual bank holiday weekend festival for those aged 12-18 featuring live music, quality speakers and plenty of opportunities to encounter God in a new and profound way. Most participants stay on to join the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham on the 6th. Visit www.ignitefestival.co.uk. (More details of this year’s festival will be released in due course)
15th June 2019 (TBC): Burning Lights – day of faith, fun, food & friendship for those aged 8 to 12. Including music, games, prayer & loads more. More details to come soon.
July 2019 – Annual Youth Summer Pilgrimage – each summer we take a group of young adults (aged 18-35) on pilgrimage. Plans for 2019 are still being drawn up but previous destinations have included Santiago de Compostela, Fatima, Taizé, Lindisfarne and Iona.
Monthly – ‘1061′ Young Adult Formation Retreats – Run by the National Shrine of Our Lady & Youth 2000 at Dowry House in Walsingham for 18-30s exploring prayer & sacraments, scripture & tradition and radical generosity. Visit www.youth2000.org/1061 for more information.

Glow Days: these are retreat days the Ignite Team can come and run in your parish and/or deanery for young people in your parish who are interested in growing in their faith. The day is composed of dynamic talks, interactive workshops, activities, music and opportunities for prayer and reflection.
