Parishioners Take to Three Wheels for Ride and Stride

Three determined tricycle riders from St Felix Catholic Church in Felixstowe will be taking to the roads this month in support of Suffolk’s historic churches.

Haley Dossor, Philip Hill and Rosemary Chilcott have signed up for the annual Ride and Stride, organised by the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust, which takes place on Saturday 13 September. The event invites walkers and cyclists of all ages to visit local churches, raising much-needed funds to help preserve these treasured buildings.

The parish priest of St Felix, Fr Michael Smith, will also lead a two-hour walk around churches in the port town, encouraging parishioners and local residents to join him and to give generously.

“This is the 45th time this worthy cause has raised funds for county churches,” said Fr Michael. “They need continuous support to remain open and in good condition.”

Explaining how the scheme benefits both local parishes and the wider Trust, participant Haley Dossor added: “Whatever money is raised is split equally between the cyclists’ own church and the charity.”

Sponsorship forms for those wishing to support the Felixstowe riders and walkers are available at the back of St Felix Church, Gainsborough Road.
