Music ministry, talks on Aquinas, a night at the opera

Latest news from the Diocese of East Anglia includes an online event by Divine Renovation about music ministry, a talk by Sr Magdalene Eitenmiller, and Catenians at the opera.

Divine Renovation is putting on an online event about music ministry. It is called ‘Sunday Experience: Revitalising Music Ministry in your Parish’ and will take place at 7pm on Thursday June 30.

“Catholic parishes want their music ministries to lead people into encounter with Jesus,” write the organisers. “But with a maintenance culture, music ministry is often left on the backburner, leaving parishioners uninspired and disengaged from worship.”

The event aims to show participants “how you can use music to leave your parishioners refreshed and excited about worship”.

Sr Magdalene Eitenmiller will be giving talks on Prayer and the Spiritual Life according to St Thomas Aquinas. The event will be held on June 10 to 12 at St Mary’s Convent in Handsworth, Birmingham. It will include three lectures, Mass, laudes, vespers, and compline for those who wish, as well as meals and social time. There will also be an optional tour. The cost is £200.

Thirty-six members of Norfolk Circle of the Catenian Association accompanied by wives and led by its president Francis Harmer enjoyed an evening at the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich on Thursday May 5 to see the Pirates of Penzance.

The visit was motivated by the fact that Richard McGreevy, a member of the Circle, was a member of the cast. He joined the Norwich Theatre Royal Community Choir and has performed in a number of shows including the Mikado and Ruddigore.
