Twenty Years of Prayer and Fellowship

The Norwich Monday Prayer Group has celebrated its 20th anniversary in joyful thanksgiving. More than twenty past and present members gathered for a Mass of Thanksgiving at St John the Baptist Cathedral, celebrated by Fr Anthony Asomugha, followed by a celebratory afternoon tea.

Helen Savelli and Monica Barnham, the two sisters who founded the Prayer Group in Norwich in February 2006, reflected with gratitude on the past two decades. They expressed heartfelt thanks for the many graces and blessings received during that time.

The group began with just six members but has grown steadily over the years, welcoming people from Catholic parishes across Norwich. Meeting each Monday during term time, the group follows the rhythm of the Church’s year, offering prayer for all who bring intentions, as well as for the many challenges facing the world today. Over time, the Prayer Group has become a close-knit family, providing fellowship and prayerful support to all who come to pray or seek prayers.

In addition to intercessory prayer, the group draws on the rich tradition of Catholic devotion, including the weekly recitation of the Rosary. Members also spend time reflecting on Scripture and the Psalms. Each summer, they make an annual pilgrimage to Walsingham.

New members are always warmly welcome. Anyone interested is encouraged to come along and see if the group is for them. For further details, please email helen@savelli.co.uk or telephone Helen on 07905 713 407.
