The event will take place in the Sunken Chapel on Saturday October 3 and will include a playlet depicting the wake that might have followed St Francis’ death.
Characters who knew St Francis, dressed in costumes from the period, will share their memories of the remarkable man they chose to follow and reflect upon the profound legacy he left to them and to the wider world. The performance will also explore St Francis’ deep love for the wonder of God’s creation.
Following a short break, refreshments will be served and guests will have the opportunity to meet the characters, including some of the more colourful and comical figures in St Francis’ life, and discover more about their relationship with the saint.
The celebration will conclude with the Transitus – a short prayer service marking the passing of St Francis from this world to his heavenly home.
All are warmly invited to attend.
