St Edmund’s Church in Bury St Edmunds will be transformed with beautiful floral displays as it hosts a Flower Festival over the weekend of 5–7 September 2026.
The festival, which forms part of the Diocese of East Anglia’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, will feature arrangements created by talented local flower arrangers, alongside contributions from other local churches, care homes and support organisations. Two professional florists will also be taking part.
John Saunders said the Flower Festival is another event marking the diocesan Jubilee and is expected to attract visitors from across the town and beyond.
The displays are being coordinated by Jo Pepper of the Church Flower Group, who said: “This is such an exciting event and is our first major Festival since Delia Smith opened the one we held in 1987. The contributors reflect the spread of faith and the love and care that is extended by many people and we hope that the Festival will appeal to everyone. We hope to have music and there will be the opportunity for guided tours.”
Opening times will vary to accommodate church services. Full details are available on the parish website, with the festival remaining open until 4pm on Saturday and 3.30pm on the other days.
The Flower Festival will coincide on 5 and 6 September with the return of the parish’s popular Photographic Exhibition, another Jubilee event first held earlier this year. The exhibition, featuring more than 500 images celebrating the past 50 years of parish life, will be staged in the Crypt, where refreshments will also be available.
Admission to both the Flower Festival and the Photographic Exhibition is free. Please note that there is no parking available at the church.
