As churches re-open Rebecca tells us how to stay safe

The Diocesan Safeguarding Administrator Rebecca Bretherton has created a 15-minute zoom presentation on safety during the re-opening of churches in East Anglia.

It is intended especially for clergy and parish safeguarding reps, as well as stewards and volunteers who will be playing a role in the re-opening of churches.

The presentation includes awareness of the national guidance and some safeguarding information, especially on how to respond to a safeguarding concern.

It describes firstly how to protect yourself and others from the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and then how to respond to a concern about the safety of a child or adult at risk.

Rebecca points out that the lockdown may have given abusers an opportunity to abuse out of sight, and she offers guidelines on how to behave if something a visitor says about their situation raises a concern.
