Farewell and Thank You to David Turner

It was with a mix of gratitude and fondness that the team at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist announced the retirement of much-loved caretaker and warden of the car parks, David Turner. 

After an incredible 23 years of dedicated service, David has officially hung up his brightly coloured high-vis jacket — a familiar sight to many as he made his rounds across the site.

David has already begun embracing the quieter pace of retirement alongside his wife, Diane.

Cathedral Staff and volunteers extended a heartfelt thank you to David for his tireless commitment, cheerful presence, and unwavering willingness to lend a hand — whether or not it was part of his job, and held a small celebration at the end of June at the Garden Cafe. David regaled the group with key stories from his time at the Cathedral, including a secret wedding!

David will be greatly missed, and the team wish David and Diane all the very best in this well-earned next chapter.
