The display, situated outside their home at 42 Chestnut Drive, drew steady crowds throughout the season. Families, children, and passers-by of all ages paused to admire the illuminated scene and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Many also chose to contribute to the fundraising effort, which supports essential restoration work at the historic Minster.
Aloma Pampackal, who organised the display with her family, said they were “overjoyed to see so many people (young and old) stop by to enjoy the display.” Donations collected at the site, alongside contributions made through their JustGiving page, are being directed entirely towards the restoration project.

Fr Simon Blakesley has supported the initiative and encouraged the sharing of the display with the wider diocesan community.
The Pampackal family expressed their gratitude to all who visited, admired the lights, and offered donations. Their hope is that the display not only brings joy to the local community but also helps preserve St Benet’s Minster for generations to come.
