King’s Lynn says farewell to Fr Henry at chocolate party

A farewell "chocolate party" was thrown for Fr Henry Whisenant at the end of February when he left Our Lady of the Annunciation in King's Lynn to take up his new appointment at St John the Baptist Cathedral in Norwich after 18 months in West Norfolk.Parishioner Pauline Mcsherry pays tribute.

Fr Henry came to our parish in the autumn of 2015 and our first impressions were: "Well he seems a very pleasant young lad." "Just a school boy, he looks about 18."

During his short time with us many have got to know Father as he went about his parochial duties. Seeds have been sown with our young folk… "Today’s Church Tomorrow’s Church." and will, with the grace of the Holy Spirit, continue.

Great joy you gave to the housebound and our elderly in care homes. We thank you Father for your interest and support of the work of SVP Society. The Elders were always pleased to see you. Those who attended the Prayer Group and Wednesday evening gatherings greatly valued your input.

With grateful hearts we thank you for all you have done for us during your short time in King’s Lynn. On behalf of the parish, Charles Busuttil paid tribute to your time with us. Our Canon followed with his words of gratitude and prayers for your safety behind wheel. There is little more to add. It is simply to express our sincere thanks to you Father as you make your untimely exit. Your Frexit! Take with you our love and our thanks. In our prayers we will never forget you.
