The Catholic maritime charity Stella Maris is calling on knitters across the Diocese of East Anglia to support its vital chaplaincy work with those who work at sea.
Providing pastoral care to seafarers and fishermen throughout the region, Stella Maris is seeking volunteers to knit woolly hats which can be distributed to those they serve. With long hours and harsh conditions often part of life at sea, these simple gifts offer both warmth and a tangible sign of care and solidarity.
There is no preference for colour or style, and all contributions are warmly welcomed. Arrangements can be made to collect items directly from volunteers’ homes, and any postage costs will be covered.
Deacon Rick Jones, Port Chaplain to East Anglia, said: “Please help us support these workers in their industry. Your contribution, however small, can make a real difference.”
