Men of St Joseph, World Youth Day, Duckett Library

Latest news from the Diocese of East Anglia includes testimonies on Radio Maria, preparations for World Youth Day, and books for sale in the Duckett Library.

Radio Maria England welcomed the Men of St Joseph and a men’s group that attend Blackfriars in Cambridge. The event was to celebrate Candlemas together, and the Men of St Joseph spoke live on the radio with their own powerful personal testimony of how they came into being.

“Mass was celebrated together,” said Jason Moore, “and the evening included a talk from The Men of St Joseph, which was followed by a shared meal together at the studio. The evening showed the togetherness of Catholics and especially of Catholic men in Cambridge.”

For the first time, St Luke’s Peterborough hosted the World Youth Day (WYD) diocesan preparation meeting. St Luke’s has the largest WYD group going on the pilgrimage to Lisbon this year. At 12 noon there was an International Youth Mass celebrated by Bishop Peter.

This was the first time Bishop Peter had visited Peterborough. Afterwards there was a time for lunch and for pilgrims to mingle. The meal was followed by presentations from Hamish MacQueen and Fr Pablo. “Excitement is rising as we get closer to WYD 2023 Lisbon,” writes Jason Moore.

There are quite a number of really good books on sale in the Duckett Library of the Cathedral at the moment, as well as some suggested Lent reading to borrow.

The library will also be holding a sale in the Narthex rotunda from 10 am on Tuesday April 4. As well as art books there will be various religious items – crucifixes, holy pictures, small ikons – and some sale stock from the Cathedral shop. The Chrism Mass takes place at 11.30, but the library will remain open until around 3pm.
