Newman Conversations are a first for the Diocese

Earlier in June, Professor John Morrill and Professor John Charmley took place in the first of a new series of Newman Conversations, which accompany the well-established annual Newman Lectures from the Diocese of East Anglia.

The Conversations and Lecture series are organised as part of a new collaboration between the Diocese and St Mary’s University, Twickenham.

Professor Morrill and Professor Charmley were discussing the careers of St John Henry Newman and Cardinal Henry Manning, and their respective influence on the First Vatican Council.

Fr Andrew Eburne, who organised the event with Professor Charmley, said: “During lockdown we have become accustomed to encountering more of the world online, and that includes learning about our faith.  Despite all the difficulties and restrictions, there are also real opportunities for us to grow in faith and in knowledge – and we hope the Newman Conversations will be one of those opportunities.”

You can watch the full hour-long Newman Conversation below or by clicking here.  The next Conversation in the series will take place online in September.
