School and council mark Holocaust Memorial Day

A Catholic High School in Norwich and the city’s Lord Mayor have marked Holocaust Memorial Day with a virtual service and a online video.

The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Vaughan Thomas, issued the invitation to the online event recorded on January 27, which featured a number of presentations and case studies, including powerful testimonies from survivors of religious genocide.

This year’s national commemoration theme is ‘Be the Light in the Darkness’, which encourages us to reflect on how we can play our individual part in combatting the prejudice and hate that may surround us.

You can now view the recorded service on YouTube.

Meanwhile, staff and students from Notre Dame High School in Norwich have recorded their own YouTube video to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.  It  aims to express their commitment to promote the values of freedom, respect, forgiveness and democracy.
