Receptionist needed at Walsingham Shrine

The Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady, Walsingham, requires a Receptionist – £9.50 an hour, plus pension, life and health insurance.


You will be an integral part of our team to help provide an effective and efficient reception service, ensuring that a pilgrim’s time in Walsingham is enjoyable and spiritually rewarding.

Key responsibilities include taking bookings online, over the phone and in person; checking visitors in to the hotel; maintaining the electronic booking system, and supporting a variety of visitor requirements. The role demands excellent customer service, telephone, and IT skills. Previous experience in a similar establishment is desirable. GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.

This role may also include occasional working in other areas of the Shrine on busy days, such as in the Gift Shop or Tea Room, or as part of the stewarding team.

Hours of employment are: 35 hours a week to include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

The role will require a DBS check.

The Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham dates back to the 11th century. In 1934 the Slipper Chapel was declared to be the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady in England. The Shrine now attracts 150,000 + pilgrims a year.
