School pupils gather in Norwich to celebrate Pentecost

Over 100 children from four Catholic primary schools in Norfolk and Suffolktook part in a day of reflection and celebration on the theme of Pentecost led by the Ignite Youth Team on June 7.

Year Four children of St Mary's and St Peters, Gorleston, St Mary's Lowestoft and St Augustine's, Costessey all travelled to join the children at St Francis of Assisi, Norwich, for the day.

The day was prepared and run by the Ignite Team who guided the children to join them in prayer, discussion and song, focussing on the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Fran Ludden, Deputy Head at St Francis of Assisi, said: "The children raised the roof with their singing and amazed us with their ability to be silent.

"This is the first time that the primary schools, all part of the St John the Baptist Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, have come together to celebrate. It was really good to see the children mixing, sharing their thoughts and questions about Pentecost, and praising God together with real enthusiasm.

"We are very grateful to Ignite for leading the day, to the teachers for bringing our children together and we hope it will be the first of many similar get-togethers within the Multi-Academy Trust," said Fran.
