Portraits of Salvation, Joyful Mysteries: the Gospel of Luke by Deacon Paul Raynes (St Etheldreda’s)
December 4, 6.30pm
Luke is a brilliant portrait painter in words, whose Gospel emphasises Jesus’s Good News for the poor and the outsider and introduces the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. There is great debate over the role Luke gives to women in his Gospel and in its sequel the Acts of the Apostles. Deacon Paul will introduce this Gospel which we will read together during the Church year that begins this Advent, and reflect on its teaching about how missionary disciples should confront money and political power.
