Updated Coronavirus guidelines from the CBCEW

In light of the fast-evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales has published updated guidelines and useful information for parishes.

The CBCEW has issued concise advice for parishes titled ‘The Liturgy, Parish Events and Coronavirus: Steps to take’.

The latest advice and updates on Coronavirus are available here.

Prof Jim McManus is the Director of Public Health for Hertfordshire and Vice President of Directors of Public Health.  He is also a key contributor to the Bishops’ Conference Healthcare Reference Group for the Catholic Church and worked on its guidelines for Catholics.

In a podcast on March 13, he discusses COVID-19 and how we can all do our bit to combat the spread and keep ourselves safe.

In a message to parishes, Bishop Alan Hopes wrote: “I want to thank you for your co-operation and once again to emphasise that these are precautionary measures only and will be removed as soon as the Chief Medical Officer of the Government gives the all clear.

“Please keep in your prayers all who have been infected across the world by this virus and those who are struggling greatly. Pray for those who have died and for their grieving families. And pray too for all doctors and nursing staff who are involved in supporting and seeking to heal those who are infected. Pray too that all of us may assist and support one another during this challenging time.”
