Warm East Anglian welcome for Cambodia’s Fr Totet

Parishes twinned with communities in Cambodia have just had the pleasure of welcoming Fr Totet to the Diocese of East Anglia. Stella Fox reports.

Fr Totet is thevicar general of the Diocese of Battambang and parish priest of Siem Reap an area in the north west of Cambodia.

During his visit he was able to spend time with many people who have visited Cambodia, some of them many times.

He celebrated Pentecost at Bury St Edmunds then visited Diss, Ipswich and Ely where he joined the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre celebrating their annual Mass in Ely Cathedral Lady Chapel.

He then visited Gorleston where he was able to see a group of parishioners who visited Cambodia for the first time this year. Next stop was the childrens pilgrimage to Walsingham. He then moved on to North Walsham and Aylsham, a parish which visits every year. Fr Totet also visited Costessey before leaving to visit friends and family.

It was a great joy to welcome him and share many happy occasions. It was an opportunity to discuss further twinnings as well as those already in existence and how this valuable relationship of commitment should continue and develop.

If you would like to know more about twinning please contact Fr Philip Shryane. There are many communities in Cambodia looking for a possible twinning.Together we can share the love of God shown in our mutual care and mission.
