Young winners, adult formation chance, three bishops

Latest news from across the Diocese of East Anglia includes young competition winners, a Norfolk Show first and a young adult formation opportunity.


The Knights of St Columba have announced the winners of their Easter photographic competition and they were a brother and sister from Our Lady Star of the Sea (OLSS) church, Lowestoft.

Noela da Costa age 13 – Easter Altar backdrop (OLSS) won council, province and national certificates and £50 cash. Her brother Venancio da Costa age 9 – Easter Altar (OLSS) at council and Province level. Certificates and £20 cash.

Pictured above, presenting them with their awards were Knights from the left – Bro George Slaughter – Grand Knight Lowestoft Council, Bro Christopher Brooks – Past Provincial Grand Knight East Anglia Province and Bro Jason Wickard – Provincial Grand Knight East Anglia Province.


The Community of Our Lady of Walsingham (COLW) is offering an opportunity to Catholic men and women aged 18 – 35 to live alongside their community in Dereham for a week this summer.

As well as joining community prayers, meals and activities, young adults will receive formation on topics such Prayer, Scripture, Discernment and the Spirituality of Walsingham.

There are two choices of dates: August 14 – 21 or August 30 – September 6.

Bishop Peter Collins attended his first ever Royal Norfolk Show in late June and joined two other bishops at the show’s outdoor thanksgiving service. Joining him were the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Graham Usher and the Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Rev Dr Jane Steen (pictured below).
