Under the gentle autumn light, the church was transformed into a glorious display of God’s creation — lovingly brought to life by the parish’s talented flower team, led by Marie, with Cathy, Kate and Leonie lending their creative hands.
Deacon Stephen Pomeroy and members of the parish family raided their gardens and allotments, bringing in pumpkins, potatoes, apples, beans, courgettes, cucumbers, tomatoes — and even the more unusual quince — to adorn the altar for the Harvest celebration. Alongside the fresh produce, others contributed tins, cereals and dried goods, forming a vibrant tableau of gratitude and generosity.
After the Harvest Mass, the spirit of sharing continued. The non-perishable foods were gathered up and sent to the local food bank to support those in need within the community, while the home-grown fruits and vegetables were sold off, raising funds to support the work of CAFOD.
Moments like these remind us that Harvest is not just about what we gather in, but how we share what we have been given. At St Peter’s, Gorleston, the fruits of faith, fellowship and love continue to flourish in abundance.
