Bishop Alan blesses Norwich and the Diocese

Bishop Alan Hopes celebrated a Solemn Mass for the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, at St John’s Cathedral in Norwich, on Sunday June 14.

In his homily, Bishop Alan expressed his profound thanksgiving for this most precious of gifts. He reminded us how the Eucharist fulfils the promise of Jesus to be with us to the end of time.

“In this wonderful Sacrament,” the Bishop said, “Jesus Christ abides with His Church; in this wonderful Sacrament we are united with God Himself.”

After the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was carried in procession by the Bishop and Cathedral clergy through the Cathedral, and out of the great west doors.  There the Bishop gave Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament to the city of Norwich and to the Diocese.

The procession then returned to the High Altar, where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed for Adoration throughout the rest of the day.
