Bishop Alan speaks on air about Advent book

Bishop Alan has contributed to a book of reflections on Advent, which has just been published by the Catholic media network EWTN. He will be speaking about it on air later this month.

The 160-page illustrated book is entitled Advent Reflections: Meditations for a Holy Advent. It is available on Amazon here and costs $14.95 in paperback or $10.06 on kindle.

In one of his contributions, Bishop Alan writes: “While we are of course saved as individuals, we must beware of making ourselves the centre of the story, because we are part of a community… This communal aspect is a key part of the Catholic understanding of salvation, and if we miss it, we end up placing ourselves at the center of the universe.”

The compiler of the book, Brandon McGinley, works for EWTN and lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He writes: “Amidst the hustle and bustle of the secular pre-Christmas season, these Advent reflections invite you to slow down and reflect on the season’s spiritual and liturgical themes. Shared over the years with grateful EWTN audiences by good priests and bishops from the United Kingdom and Ireland, they will help you do just that.

“Let these holy bishops and priests take you on a refreshing spiritual journey through Advent, bring you the deeper reality of the season, cut through the secular distractions and anxieties, and deliver you to the Christ child.”

EWTN has recorded an interview with Bishop Alan about his contribution for its regular programme Bookmark. The episode will be broadcast on Sunday November 24 at 17:00, with re-air on Thursday November 28 at 22:30.

EWTN is streamed on NowTV (Sky), Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, Google Chromecast and Apple TV. For help getting set up, call EWTN on 0208 350 2542.
