Chaplains launch online activities for young people

As the UK goes into lockdown, the School Chaplains, the Diocesan Youth Team, the 17th Norwich Scouts and Jane Crone from CAFOD have united to launch an online resource for young people and their families.

They have begun producing a free Daily Reflection and links to fun activities for all ages.

“Our young people are looking for sources of structure, hope and community,” said Alex Savage, Lay Chaplain at Notre Dame High School in Norwich, who is co-ordinating the project.

Resources and activity ideas are being posted on the CornerStone website.

These include morning prayers, a BBC news round for young people, and a link to a simple daily Mass livestreamed from Brentwood youth service each day at 10.30am.

You can follow the daily 10.30am Mass from Walsingham House in Abbotswick, Brentwood, on Instagram @brentwoodcys and on Facebook live at https://www.facebook.com/brentwoodcys/videos/239347424127726.

On Sunday March 29, the youth Mass will be streamed at 12 noon to coincide with the re-dedication of England as the Dowry of Our Lady.

Cafod is posting its resources for school closures on the Cornerstone website, and there are ideas for indoor activities from the Scouts.

A fresh link is being produced each week to a regularly updated presentation. To view this week’s presentation click here.
