Fr Karol, who comes from Jawor in south-west Poland, is familiar with Italian from having studied Dogmatic Theology in Rome, from where he graduated in 2003. His specialisation is Mariology.
At the end of secondary school in Rzeszów, Karol applied to enter the La Salette Congregation at the Shrine in Debowiec, where the Novitiate was, about 70 miles from his home. There he made his Novitiate and went on to study theology in Krakow, 100 miles from the Shrine. In 1991, he was ordained at the La Salette Shrine with fourteen other La Salette seminarians.
He was appointed the prefect in the school in Rzeszów, where he was a student before, after Religious Education was reintroduced into the school’s programme.
From 1994 to 1997 he was assigned to Brentwood Diocese and served in St Cedd’s Parish in Goodmayes, Ilford, as Parish Assistant with two other La Salette priests.
His longest assignment in Poland, which lasted 10 years, was editing the La Salette bimonthly magazine dedicated to reconciliation called “Poslaniec (Messenger) of Our Lady of La Salette”.
In 2015 he took on a pastoral assignment as Parish Priest at Sacred Heart parish in St Ives before moving to his present role in Peterborough.
