Late Summer Fayre Brings Parish Together

Sudbury with Hadleigh Catholic Parish celebrated its annual Late Summer Fayre on Saturday September 12, bringing parishioners together for a memorable evening of fellowship, fundraising and spiritual communion.

The festivities began at 4.30pm with a well-attended celebration of Mass at Our Lady and St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Sudbury. Parishioners from the churches in Sudbury and Hadleigh gathered with great joy and enthusiasm, setting a prayerful tone for the evening.

Organised by the Parish Pastoral Council alongside Fr Antony, Priest-in-Charge, the event provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen parish bonds and experience Catholic communion with the Lord and one another.

Following Mass, the church garden came alive with a vibrant array of stalls and activities. These included a grand raffle and tombola, a popular bottle stall and a range of prizes.

Refreshments included a busy barbecue, home-baked cakes, a prosecco and strawberry bar, and a liqueur bar operating on a donation basis. Children enjoyed traditional games, while visitors browsed a well-stocked book stall and a ‘good as new’ stall.

Guests enjoyed food and drink against the beautiful backdrop of the garden, while the elegant harmonies of a harp and cello duo created a peaceful atmosphere.

As the evening drew to a close, Fr Antony expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Parish Pastoral Council, the dedicated volunteers and everyone who had worked tirelessly behind the scenes. He thanked the community for its hard work and preparation, describing the fayre as a true occasion of grace, communion and enjoyment for the whole parish family.
