Chrism Mass
This year’s Chrism Mass takes place at 11:30am on Tuesday, 31 March. The music will be broadly similar to the music at last year’s Chrism Mass, with a mixture of familiar hymns and choir pieces, Gregorian Chants, and newer music.
Rehearsal will take place at 10am in the Cathedral and music will be sent out beforehand. If you or your choir would like to sing at this Mass, please contact David Grealy, the diocesan director of music (david.grealy@rcdea.org.uk) for more information.
Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham
As in previous years, a choir will gather on the day to sing for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham, which takes place on Monday, 4 May. Unlike last year, this year’s pilgrimage will begin at the Shrine with a procession to Walsingham Abbey in the village taking place later in the afternoon. Anyone wishing sing in the choir for 12 noon Mass should simply show up for 11am rehearsal before Mass. All music will be provided.
EA50 Jubilee Mass
A major event will take place in St John’s Cathedral on Friday 26 June, the feast of the Dedication of the Cathedral, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Diocese of East Anglia. If you would like to sing in the choir at 12 noon on that day, please get in touch with David Grealy for further details.
